Mark Madoff Was a Financier Having a Net Worth of $18.6 Million at the Time of His Death!

Mark Madoff was a financier having a Net Worth of $18.6 million at the time of his death. Mark Madoff (March 11, 1964 – December 11, 2010) was an American banker best known for his part in exposing his father, Bernie Madoff, to multibillion-dollar Ponzi fraud. If you're not familiar with the late Mark Madoff's father, Bernie an Investor, he was at the helm of one of the greatest Ponzi scams in history, duping people out of an estimated $64.8 billion.

In 1986 Mark Madoff graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in economics. There, he became a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. In 1987, he joined his father's firm. Andrew Madoff (1966-2014), his brother, worked in the firm's legitimate market-making and proprietary trading department.

Mark and his brother confronted their father in December 2008 about his plans to award hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to staff months ahead of schedule. Their father then admitted to them that his company was founded on a huge deception, a long-running Ponzi scheme that was crumbling as a result of the global financial crisis. He begged for 24 hours to get his things in order before reporting to the authorities. On the advice of their lawyers, the brothers went to the authorities right away; Bernard Madoff was arrested the next day, and they never talked to him again.

Even though no criminal charges were filed against Mark Madoff, the scandal and its aftermath were disastrous to his personal and professional life. Mark, his mother, and his brother were all the focus of frequent media attention, with publications speculating that they had been engaged in, or were aware of, their father's crime. Although he had made a great fortune, he also had a difficult time getting to work after his father's case.

Madoff was discovered dead in his Manhattan apartment at 158 Mercer Street on December 11, 2010. He'd hung himself from the ceiling with a dog leash connected to a beam. On the second anniversary of his father's arrest, he committed suicide.

Mark Madoff was an innocent victim of his father's heinous act who succumbed to two years of relentless pressure from false charges and slander. Authorities say Madoff sent several emails, including one to his wife, who was in Florida with their daughter, at 4 a.m. on the morning of his death. An official added that the texts simply said that he loves her and he wants someone to check on the child.

Both Madoff-Children denied knowing anything about the scheme and were never charged criminally in connection with it. The book, The End of Normal: A Wife's Anguish, A Widow's New Life, was published in 2011 and chronicled his wife's experiences with the Ponzi scam and the accompanying ramifications for the Madoff family. She also inserted an excerpt from Madoff's memoir, which he had been working on but never finished, in the book.
