Matthew married his long-time girlfriend Gina on 15th May 2010 after dating for five years. The lovebirds first met during their college days back in 2005 when they were studying at Hofstra University.
The couple shares three children together. They welcomed their first child, a son named Nicholas on 23rd June 2012. The duo subsequently added a couple more kids into their family. Their first daughter was born in 2014 who they named Sienna. A year later, they welcomed their second son named Luca in August 2015.

Eight years into their marital life, the first cracks began to appear in the couple’s relationship as they decided to live separately. The pair subsequently announced their split prior to Gina’s debut in the season 13 of RHOC. Moreover, their divorce was expected to be finalized towards the tail end of 2018. However, it did not materialize for some reason.
Even though Matt never featured on the show, their love life was a regular topic of discussion. In September 2018, she maintained her decision to be a reality star carried no impact on their relationship.
Rumored to be back together in the summer of 2019
In June 2019, the duo was seemingly on the right track and sparked rumors of a reconciliation. Matt’s wife - who was previously arrested for drink-driving as well as pulled over for talking on the phone - posted an emotional birthday wish dedicating to her longtime boyfriend turned husband on Instagram.
Happy birthday to the man who has held my hand for the last 14 years despite the ups and downs. Thanks for being the best father to our kids, and the best friend a girl could ask for. Wouldn’t want to take on this crazy life with anyone else. Like you said, ‘I’m your person and you’re mine.
This inevitably sparked speculations that the duo is back together.
Confirmation of the reunion
An Insider told US Magazine in June 2019 that the couple has in fact reconciled.
Yes, they are back together. We’ll learn why they split and how they found their way back to each other [on RHOC season 14]. They’ve always been very amicable and friendly or contentious.
The happiness, however, was only short-lived.
Domestic violence accusation
The same month when the couple was supposedly back together, Matt got arrested on the suspicion of domestic violence on 22nd June 2019. However, he was released mere hours later. In fact, he is yet to get charged for the alleged crime.
Two days after his arrest, Gina filed for a restraining order against her estranged husband – who she believes needs “professional help” - detailing the entire incident. She claimed this was not the first time this had happened, accusing her spouse of violence from an incident back in August 2018.
A month following Matthew’s arrest, Gina came under scrutiny in July 2019 after her no show in the restraining order hearing. Later, Gina requested the judge to order Matt to “submit to random expanded urine drug/alcohol testing.” Her husband did not hold back as he drew attention to her own history with substance abuse.
Gina and Matt got divorced in August 2019
On 14th August 2019, the duo finally came to an agreement for the “dissolution of marriage”. While they deal with the paperwork and issues concerning joint properties, the judge ruled that the couple shall remain “married” until the end of the year. Moreover, Gina’s ex-husband was expected to pay $10,000 per month in spousal and child support.
The former lovebirds hold joint custody of their children while the physical custody belongs to the mother. In addition, her restraining order against her partner is extended further to a January 2020 court date.

During an August episode of RHOC, Gina claimed her estranged husband had an affair prior to their split.
We moved here, Luca was, like, 4 months old and he had an affair. We tried to work through it the best we could. We were in therapy and it opened our eyes to other problems in the relationship.
The reality star claimed she knew he was still cheating on her with a mistress after finding a Valentine’s Day card.

In August 2019, Matt who boasts a net worth of $250,000 claimed he was incapable of paying $10,000 in spousal and child support in documents submitted to the court.
Apparently Matthew used to hold a job as a Financial account manager at PIMCO as per his LinkedIn profile. However, he was forced to resign following his arrest in June. His income was subsequently listed as $0 in the court documents.
Matthew stated in the docs,
I have been seeking a new job. Although there have been no criminal charges filed against me and have never been convicted of a crime, it has been very difficult to obtain new employment.
The couple is currently learning to co-parent their kids following their turbulent separation. Meanwhile, on 29th October 2019, Gina admitted to sleeping with her former husband on the Bravo show which was filmed in March, prior to the domestic violence charges.
