Netflix is dubbed as a mid-range cinema killer; there is a point to be made about the negative impact of the rise of streaming services on the theatre-going experience. But no one can deny the willingness of Netflix to give all kinds of shows and movies a chance. October Faction is the type of series which is made possible only because of the rise of streaming services, and after the conclusion of the first season, there is a case to be made for October Faction season 2. October Faction is a series about the Allen family and their return to their ancestral home, but the family isn’t as bland as they seem. The parents of the twin Allen kids are monster hunters and one of the best agents of the agency known as Presidio. The mission of Presidio is to study monsters and then kill them so only humans can inherit the earth. October Faction season 1 arrived on 23 January 2020 on Netflix. Source: Instagram But the layers of deception and old foes returning will form the first season of October Faction, and there is also a neat setup for what could happen in October Faction season 2. There is no confirmation October Faction season 2 is coming down the pike, and considering the lukewarm reception among fans when it comes to the first season, we are unlikely to see October Faction season 2. Whether it may happen or not, when the story of comics is considered the main villain of the series hasn’t even shown its face. October Faction season 2 may not happen, but we won’t let that stop us from speculating what may happen in the second season. So, for people yet to see the first season, this is SPOILER WARNING, come back when you are done. For the rest, let’s dive into the four things we want to see in October Faction season 2. 4. Merle Cope and His Frightful Family Make Their Presence Felt Merle Cope will be the villain in October Faction season 2, according to the creator of the series. Source: Previews World October Faction is a fairly short comic series, but in the small numbers of issues, the series has managed to pack in so many amazing characters. Merle Cope and his family (to some extent) are a great addition to the comic series, and Merle can also be described as the main villain of the October Faction comic series. But the reason why we put this at number four is because there are some story revelation to be made in October Faction season 2 and we do not see enough space for Merle Cope to arrive and make the required mark even though the creator of the series said he would be a significant part of the series moving forward. October Faction season 2 will probably dive into the mystery of Robot Face. Source: IDW There is still the mystery of who is in the basement of the finale of season one and the obvious back story of Dante, or as he is known in the comics Robot Face. Alice is still on the loose, and there is a significant back story involving the mother of the twins. Merle may be introduced in October Faction season 2, but we do not see the warlock with a grudge against Fred Allen making a huge mark in season 2, maybe he will be set up to peak in the third season. So, yeah, whether Merle is the focal point of October Faction season 2 or not, we would love to see the villain introduced, and the whole family is going against the Allen family and Robot Face. Merle Cope is an interesting villain and someone who will play an important role in the future, but season three is probably when the character will peak. 3. Fred Allen – Back From the Dead Fred Allen was killed in the finale of October Faction season 1. Source: Instagram Like in most comic book series, the dead don’t stay dead; it is a nuisance sometimes because the death does not contain the same amount of punch if they were definite. Fred Allen was killed off in an unceremonious fashion; well, we needed to go back and check if he was tranquilized or killed. So, just by the way the patriarch of the Allen family was killed, it is almost certain Fred Allen, played by J.C. McKenzie, will be back in October Faction season 2. Fred was killed in the tenth episode of October Faction season 1, but he returned in the latter part of the finale, where Fred was said to be in a limbo state. Fred Allen was stuck in limbo with Omari, Alice's husband. Source: Instagram The character was seen alongside Omari, the husband of Alice Harlow, played by Maxim Roy. Omari was killed during the genocide of the warlocks by Fred, and the two were seen together inside the ‘upside-down’ version of Allen mansion. Alice brought back her whole race in the finale so you can rest assured Fred Allen will be back. Fred and his mid-life crisis combined with being high were the best parts of the first season of October Faction season 1. So, it would be a bummer if he was not there to train his kids in October Faction season 2. 2. Who is in the Basement? The basement of Samuel Allen will play a major role in October Faction season 2. Source: Netflix When it comes to setting up the second season, October Faction’s finale was particularly lacking. The Moshe, played by Dayo Ade, and Gina, played by Nicola Correia-Damude, team up to hunt Alice is an interesting side quest, but there was nothing much in terms of a big mean baddie for October Faction season 2. But before the credits rolled, the Allen mansion was shaking, and slowly the camera panned to show a compartment in the basement where something big was banging against the metal panel, trying to get out. The growling ended with a loud roar as the episode fade to black, and something got out of the basement. Samuel Allen, played by Stephen McHattie, is a mad man, someone who was obsessed with bringing back his psychopathic son, so maybe the monster in the basement was his first stab at getting his son back. Or it could be any of the comic monsters with an ax to grind against the Allen family. Anyway, the monster in the basement will definitely play a major role in October Faction season 2. 1. Viv and Geoff Allen Learn the Family Craft Viv and Geoff Allen's development will be shown in October Faction season 2. Source: Instagram The best part about the first season of October Faction was the two kids of Deloris, played by Tamara Taylor, and Fred Allen. The twins had their own identity, and the way they were navigating their lives was interesting, to say the least. Yes, the way they were brainwashed in the latter part of the series was mind-numbing and stupid, but still, they were the best thing about the first season. Viv Allen, played by Aurora Burghart, and Geoff Allen, played by Gabriel Darku, were at each other’s throat all the time, but when the time came to fight for each other, they did. The warlock revelation of the two kids was something almost everyone saw coming, and by the end, they also came out of the weird trance they were put under by their biological mother. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7oxfYdJma6/ Alice cannot be their mother, and since the kids know the dangers facing them outside of their home, they will probably show interest in learning the Allen family trade. The second volume of the October Faction comics was also about the kids and Robot Face learning how to fight and use their powers, so we can see them getting ready to fight anyone who would try to harm them. Also, there is the cute relationship between Geoff Allen and Phillip Mishra, played by Praneet Akilla, more of that, please. The threat of Presidio is almost over, but there are forces at work who want to harm the Allens, so getting ready for the fight seems to be the right move. Though Fred wanted to keep the tradecraft away from the kids, it seems the world they wanted to hide from their kids found its way to them. We definitely want to see Viv and Geoff learn to channel their powers and fight monsters, both human and supernatural kinds. But here is one thing we wish the show would change in October Faction season 2. No More CGI Blood in October Faction Season 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?vRexcOKt3k9k There are some issues with the show, and there is something to be said about the adaptation of the source material and the way they went about it all. But the biggest and the most jarring aspect about the first season of October Faction were the overuse of CGI blood. In a series filled with monsters and hunting, the presence of little more blood would not be uncharacteristic. The CGI blood is just way too much obvious, and even though the series is a work of fiction, a little blood and gore in an adult series would not harm anyone. October Faction season 2 will go the way the creator of the series takes it, but this is one aspect of the series, we seriously feel, needs changing when the series returns on Netflix.
