The tennis pro announced her engagement in November 2019, but she never specified who her fiancé was. She just confirmed that he wasn't from Belarus, and that was it.

Koltsov, like his partner Sabalenka, is also a native of the Belarusian city of Minsk. He played for Russian and Belarusian teams in the late 1990s to start his professional hockey career. However, for him, 1999 was the year when everything changed. He was selected in that year's NHL Entry Draft for the American NHL. He was selected in the first round, 18th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Konstantin played ice hockey for Belarus during his 18-year career and also represented Belarus at the Winter Olympics and IIHF World Championships. In the 2003–04 season, Koltsov participated in 82 games for the Penguins. After becoming a free agent in 2006, he went back to Europe and joined Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Russian Super League.
