Is Leia Gay in That 90S Show? Viewers Think She Might Come Out as Lesbian!

As of now, we are not sure if Leia is gay, Lesbian, or straight in that 90s show. Just like Ozzie viewers think Leia Forman, played by the actress Callie Haverda, may come out as gay. However, we can’t conclude unless the show or its character gives any hint.

That 90s Show, a spinoff of the popular sitcom That 70s Show, which ran from 1998 to 2006, is Netflix‘s attempt to appeal to Millennials’ sense of comic nostalgia in the same way that Boomers did with That 70s Show. With a fresh group of teenagers, the Forman family will once more be the focus of the story, which will take place in their house. If you remember, Fez and Jackie get together after That ’70s Show. But before the spinoff even begins, the odd couple splits up for some reason.

That ’90s Show, a remake of the cherished Fox sitcom That ’70s Show, welcomes viewers back to Point Place, Wisconsin. The new comedy, which is produced by Netflix, centers on Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), a teenager who spends the summer with her grandparents Red and Kitty who are played by Topher Grace and Laura Prepon, respectively.

Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of That ’70s Show characters Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, is the new leader of Point Place’s teens in That ’90s Show. The show’s treatment of LGBTQ people split viewers, who questioned whether Leia was gay. So is she gay, lesbian or straight? Let’s find out!

As of Now, We Are Not Sure if Leia Is Gay, Lesbian, or Straight in That 90S Show!

We are not yet certain if Leia Forman in Netflix’s That 90s show is gay, lesbian, or straight. Leia, the teenage daughter of That ’70s Show characters Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, is the new leader of Point Place’s teens in That ’90s Show. She chose to stay in Point Place with her grandparents rather than go to Chicago with her parents during the academic year so that she could enjoy the summer with a supportive group of friends.

We watch her become more at ease with all of these individuals and develop these new friendships. Leia emerges from her shell as a shy youngster with the aid of her new best friend Gwen, Jay Kelso, and the other members of the Point Place gang. With his closest pals, Leia, her next-door neighbor Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), Gwen’s brother Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan), and Nate’s girlfriend Nikki, Ozzie is out as gay.

Another adorable exchange occurs in the first season when Ozzie confides Kitty about his sexual orientation and asks whether she is cool with it. Kitty replies that of course she is and hugs him. And just like Ozzie viewers think Leia Forman, played by the actress Callie Haverda (@calliehhaverda), may come out as gay.

Twitter was used by viewers to evaluate the show’s LGBTQ portrayal. Some called for Leia to come out as a lesbian and start dating Gwen, while others praised Ozzie’s character arc. One viewer remarked that they enjoy the introduction of a gay character in the show as a whole, and another praised the sequence in which Kitty reacted to Ozzie telling her that he is gay. One viewer admitted that while having a teen be out and proud in the 1990s was not necessarily credible, they still liked the plot. One wrote;

Look, I appreciate representation, but in the spirit of #That90sShow, is it plausible that a homosexual teen would come out to his buddies in the 1990s in WISCONSIN of all places? Well, I’d rather watch a gay adolescent living a regular teenage life than watch stories about hate crimes.

As for the character of Leia, some viewers argued that since Ozzie was already a gay character on the program, it was a sad fact that she was not likely to be gay. Another person who watched the show expressed disappointment that they did not believe Leia and Gwen would become lesbians, claiming that they obviously should be. A viewer stated:

They aren’t lesbians in the 90s program my roommate is making me watch. I’m very irritated. Additionally, the show’s one gay character is among the most obnoxious ones I’ve ever encountered.

That ’70s Show was the first show on North American primetime television to depict a kiss between two male characters, making it history in terms of LGBT representation on American television. This fact may have been forgotten by some viewers. And perhaps a gay character is shown this time as well. But regarding Leia, we can’t conclude unless the show or its character gives any hint.
