At the 2019 SAG Awards, Jason won the best actor in a drama series for his performance in Ozark. During his award acceptance speech, the Terry Maitland star gushed over his working-mom wife for being the glue that holds the entire family together.

She’s got a full-time career herself and she’s able to be an incredible mom, and she’s also almost a full-time dad too because I’m out of town so much. I’m floored by that. That keeps me grounded. That reminds me that I’ve got a real strong example to kind of live up to what she’s showing.

The actor believes the “three most important people” in his life are his wife and children. The fact that he’s away from his family during work gets him extra motivated to give his best performance.

Bateman understandably broke down in tears as he accepted the award and thanked his family.

I would like to say specifically though to my wife, my two daughters – Amanda, Franny and Maple – without you, none of it would be enjoyable and it probably wouldn’t be possible. I love you more than I even tell you I do. And I’ll be home for kisses so don’t go to bed. Amanda, pop a mint, I’m going to come give you yours in about five minutes.

Speaking to Redbook in 2013, The Outsider actor revealed their marriage managed to defy all the odds since they're aware of their boundaries. “We know how to bug each other and not bug each other. If you don't get along, it's garbage. With a girlfriend, you get into a fight, you drive away. With us, we learn to fight quickly or not at all. I wanted to marry a friend. Friends last longer.”

It was like Risky Business for 10 years. My parents were out of town, they left me a bunch of money, the car, and the house, and I didn't know when they were coming home. I'd worked so hard that by the time I was 20, I wanted to play hard. And I did that really well.

Speaking of his drug addiction, Jason claimed he was in a kind of place where rehab wasn’t appropriate. Alcohol made him want to stay out all night, and smoke marijuana and all such stuff. “Shutting that off was key. It's like ketchup and French fries – I don't want one without the other."
