Russell Wilson’s Family Playbook: A Story of Two Marriages and Four Kids

Russell Wilson's Wife, Ciara, and 3 Kids | Ex-Wife Ashton

Russell Wilson‘s life in the spotlight is a tale of two love stories. One is a chapter that began in high school and ended quietly under the glare of the NFL, while the other is a very public, ongoing saga of family, faith, and power-couple goals. His journey from a young quarterback drafted into the league to a veteran building his legacy is deeply intertwined with his personal life, marked by a first marriage that dissolved quickly and a second that has become a source of endless public fascination. The contrast between these relationships paints a picture of a man who found his true partner after a false start, building a large and loving family along the way.

The narrative of Wilson’s family life is one of dramatic shifts, from a private divorce that sparked rumors to a very public courtship and marriage with global pop star Ciara. Where his first marriage to Ashton Meem was a brief, two-year union that began just before his professional career took off, his current marriage is a cornerstone of his public identity. Together with Ciara, Wilson has created a bustling household of six, blending their family and welcoming new additions while supporting each other’s towering careers. This is the detailed story of Russell Wilson’s marriages, his children, and the women who have shared his life.

Before Ciara became a central figure in his narrative, Russell Wilson’s heart belonged to his high school sweetheart, Ashton Meem. The pair first crossed paths while studying at St. Catherine’s High School in Richmond, Virginia, though their romance truly ignited at a summer party afterward. Their relationship survived the challenge of distance when Meem initially attended the University of Georgia, but she eventually transferred to North Carolina State University to be with Wilson. After nearly a decade of dating, the couple tied the knot in January 2012.

Their wedding came just months before one of the most memorable moments of their lives together: the 2012 NFL Draft. As Wilson received the call that the Seattle Seahawks had selected him, cameras captured Meem’s over-the-top, joyous reaction, a moment that would later become a viral internet meme. Despite this exciting start to his professional life, their marriage was short-lived. In April 2014, after just over two years of marriage, Wilson filed for divorce. The split was accompanied by rumors, including speculation that Meem had an affair with Wilson’s then-teammate Golden Tate, allegations that Tate publicly and adamantly denied. Since the divorce, Meem, who built a career in advertising and media marketing, has largely stayed out of the public eye.

After his divorce, Wilson revealed he had a “whole plan” to stay single for a decade, but that plan was completely upended when he met Ciara in 2015. The global pop star and Grammy Award winner connected with the quarterback, and their relationship moved quickly. Wilson proposed in March 2016, and they were married in a private ceremony in England on July 6, 2016. When they met, Ciara was already a mother to her son, Future Zahir Wilburn, from her previous relationship with rapper Future. Wilson embraced the role of stepfather, and together, he and Ciara have expanded their family with three biological children.

Their first child together, daughter Sienna Princess Wilson, was born in April 2017. Their son, Win Harrison Wilson, followed in July 2020. Wilson and Ciara chose the name “Win” for their son, and his middle name, Harrison, is a tribute to Wilson’s late father. Most recently, the family welcomed their youngest daughter, Amora Princess Wilson, in December 2023. This brings their immediate family count to six: Russell, Ciara, Future, Sienna, Win, and Amora.

The couple is famously open about their love for each other and their kids, frequently sharing glimpses of their family life on social media and supporting one another at professional events. From a plan to be single to the father of a family of six, Russell Wilson’s personal life has been a journey of unexpected turns leading to a very public and cherished partnership.
