The quick answer to that question is it is a show about finding people to start a choir with. The show features Pharrell Williams who alongside his uncle travels to different places to find gems to form a choir band unlike any assembled before.
According to a synopsis released by Netflix, "In this faith-based docuseries, Bishop Ezekiel Williams builds an inspiring, nontraditional gospel choir with the help of superstar nephew Pharrell." So the idea is pretty clear the uncle-nephew duo will head into different locals to find extraordinary talents for a choir.

Pharrell Williams is one of the biggest hit producers in the music industry. From his work with Jay-Z to top names in pop, the rapper/producer has worked with the biggest and brightest stars the industry has to offer. And he is bringing his star power to the docuseries as a judge of talent.
He is joined on his quest by Bishop Ezekiel Williams, Parrell's uncle. Bishop Ezekiel is a religious man and he is enlisting the help of his nephew and other gospel leaders as judges to find the best people for a truly unique gospel choir.

Pharrell Williams was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A long-rooted history in Virginia, Pharrell was raised there by his parents along with his two smaller brothers. And no matter where Pharrell went for his career Virginia was always going to be home for him.
This was probably the reason why Hampton Road, Virginia was chosen as the filming location for Voices of Fire. Most of the filming for the show was done in the hometown of Pharrell. Along with his uncle, the Virginia native is searching for undiscovered talents with deep and diverse backstories to fill out a massive gospel choir roster.
Voices of Fire was filmed in 2020 in Virginia where the judges and talents met for their shot at fame. The announcement for the series was made in June of 2020.

The filming of the docuseries was done in 2020. It appears the production went without much of a hitch as the release dare for Voice of Fire is listed for 20 November 2020. With Christmas right around the corner, the show will ride some goodwill, and if the pre-release reactions are any indications the show is going to be a tearjerker.
