Jason Momoa struggled financially after his character Khal Drogo got killed off from the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

Jason Momoa is arguably one of the biggest icons in Hollywood currently, but prior to his stratospheric rise to fame, the actor was struggling to pay regular bills.

The 41-year-old actor got the part of Khal Drogo in HBO's hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones based on George R.R. Martin's books. However, Drogo died in 2011 before the series achieved powerhouse status.

Momoa revealed he was in dire straits after losing his pay.

Speaking with InStyle Magazine, the actor said:

I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones. I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.

Momoa is married to American actress Lisa Bonet, with whom he shares a couple of kids, daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf.

Momoa's career shifted significantly when landed the role of Aquaman on Justice League (2016) and then starred in his own breakthrough film in the DC blockbuster Aquaman (2018).

Momoa claimed when he first saw the Dune teaser, he was in shock about how far he had climbed in his career.

He said,

It was ‘Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem,’ and I’m just like, ‘Oh my god. I can’t believe my name was with those names.’ I feel like I’m still a kid, freaking out.

The Aquaman star added he cannot wait for people to watch since all of the topics in there relate to problems in the present world.
