Cristela Alonzo is an American comedian, actress, writer and producer who was born on 6th January 1979 in San Juan, Texas. She is best known for The View (1997), Cristela (2014), and Cars 3 (2017).
Alonzo was born to mother Natalia Gonzalez, and father Adalberto Alonzo. She is the youngest sibling among the four children of her parents.

Alonzo never met her biological father since her mother left the abusive husband while she was pregnant with her. Natalia, subsequently, raised the children by herself. In 2009, it was reported Alonzo's father had passed away.

The fact that daemons play such significant roles in the show makes the need for voice cast even greater. This is where Cristela Alonzo comes into play, the actress who voices Hester in the series.

Cristela Alonzo plays the character of Hester, a plain arctic hare in Lyra's world. The actress is a daemon for Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda), a Texan aeronaut of New Danish descent. She speaks in a strong southern accent.

Lee is born in Lyra's world, and his story is full of adventures as he meets new friends along the way. On his several experiences in the service of Lyra, Lee bumps into John Parry (Andrew Scott) who goes with him to seek the subtle knife. John is also the one who reunites Lee with his mother's ring.
