Jeremy Allen White’s Weight Gain: The 32-Year-Old Actor Is Said to Have Gained 40 Pounds for His Upcoming Movie, The Iron Claw!
Jeremy Allen White (@jeremyallenwhitefinally), 31, is already the internet’s hubby thanks to his beloved role on FX‘s The Bear, but that title will only grow stronger when White muscles up for A24‘s The Iron Claw. White plays wrestler Kerry Von Erich in Sean Durkin‘s drama, The Iron Claw, which also stars Zac Efron (@zacefron) and Harris Dickinson. According to GQ magazine, the actor has undergone 40 pounds of muscle weight gain for the role.
Following the explosive success of The Bears, the 5′ 7″ ft actor was approached for a number of projects. And following the show’s unexpected success, White received four scripts from A24’s The Iron Claw, for which he is said to put on massive weight.
The Iron Claw, directed by Sean Durkin, is based on the true story of pro wrestling’s Von Erich family. Along with White, the other members of the family are displayed by Efron as Kevin Von Erich, the only survivor of the five brothers, and Dickinson as the late wrestler David Von Erich, who passed away from acute enteritis in 1984 at the age of 25.
Stepping into the Texas Tornado’s boots meant White needed to muscle up to look the part. According to White, Efron used to send him a really lovely note after he was cast in the movie, advising him to get training really hard for the role. White took that advice to heart, and as result, he gained 40 pounds of muscle during his body transformation.
It’s something Efron has been doing as well, with photos of him in character as Kevin going viral, leaving fans stunned by the actor’s sculpted body. Efron has also released a photo of himself doing a dropkick in the first trailer for the film, though we have yet to see White in the role of Kerry.
