Rob Robinson, From Last Chance U, Left Elac After the 2021–2022 Campaign to Take Over as Miracosta Community College’s Head Basketball Coach!

Robert Rob Robinson (@coachrob_miracosta) is the former assistant basketball coach at ELAC. As per Last Chance U: Basketball Season 2, he is no longer an assistant coach at East Los Angeles College as of the time of this writing. The coach left the squad after the 2021–2022 season to take the position of Head Basketball coach at Oceanside, California’s MiraCosta Community College.

Rob, who was born in Kansas City, Missouri, grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas. Coach Rob appears to be of mixed ethnicity. He is one-half African-American. He did, however, relocate to California as a teenager, attending Cabrillo High in Lompoc, where he received his high school diploma. He enrolled at Allen Hancock Community College after finishing high school, where he began to play basketball and gain notoriety.

He soon transferred, and he started playing for Stephen F. In 1995, he finally joined the University of California-Riverside and started playing basketball for the squad. He participated in track activities there as well, making it to the 1996 NCAA national high jump finals. After finishing his college basketball career in 1996, Rob went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in sociology the following year.

He returned to Allen Hancock Community College that same year in August, this time as the team’s assistant basketball coach, a role he held until March 1998. The head basketball coach and assistant general manager positions at the institute were later transferred by him to Columbus Cagerz-USBL. Rob did, however, leave the company in July 1998.

Rob enrolled at Riverside, California’s Notre Dame High School in September 1998. He held many positions at the school over the years, including head basketball coach, PE and health instructor, and associate athletic director. He enrolled at Emporia State University in 2003 while he was still connected to Notre Dame. In 2004, the basketball trainer graduated with a master’s in curriculum and instruction.

Robinson left Notre Dame after more than 20 years to work as the ELAC assistant basketball coach. He joined the group in June 2019, which was also the same month that he made his Netflix appearance in Last Chance U: Basketball. He started working part-time as a virtual teacher at Learn4Life-Mission Academy High School in June 2020; however, he quit the company in October 2020.

He also started working with Method Schools as a virtual teacher in June of the same year, and he still does. He decided to assist the MiraCosta Spartans in improving their basketball performance, preferably in the 2022–2023 season, even though he treasures his time at ELAC, especially his friendship with John Mosley (@coachjohnmosley).

Robinson’s plans for his teams seem to be progressing wonderfully. The Spartans won four of the five games his squad played between November 18, 2022, and December 9, 2022. On December 2, 2022, they played Long Beach City College and suffered their lone loss.

His wife, Krysten, to whom he has been married for more than 21 years, firmly backed his choice to switch. Three sons were born to the happy couple: KJ and Meda are roughly the same age, while Justus is about two years younger than his brothers. Additionally, He and Krysten own two gorgeous dogs, which they seem to value greatly.
