Verde is the stage name of Justin Greenwood, a singer, producer, and photographer living in Washington, D.C. He is mainly known for dating Melanie. Melanie and Verde became friends when they were in the sixth grade. He has worked with Melanie on several picture assignments in 2020 and 2022.

Since they have been spotted together frequently, Melanie Martinez and Verde have spent precious time together. On March 11 to March 15, 2022, they traveled to New York City with Elita Harkov, and on March 16, 2022, they both went to a concert by Yves Tumor. On March 19, 2022, they went to a Yungblud performance together. On April 26, 2022, Melanie’s 27th birthday week, they both went to Hawaii. Melanie was spotted with Verde on July 5, 2022, at his cousin’s graduation.

Due to the amount of time, they were spending together and the way they spoke to one another, fans had assumed he was Melanie’s current boyfriend. On March 29, 2022, Melanie uploaded an Instagram story of them kissing on the edge of her pool as she was topless, establishing the validity of their relationship.

Freelance graphic designer, music producer, and creative director Justin Greenwood has collaborated with Adidas and helped develop artists including Mel Hines and Blase Lux. Photos of her can be found in slideshows that were geotagged that year in Mexico City, Joshua Tree, and home. Since 2020, they have taken part in numerous photo sessions. On February 23, 2023, Martinez unveiled the cover art for her upcoming album Portals on social media. Verde then reposted the image on both of his Instagram accounts.

Melanie Martinez has had multiple partnerships, including ones with Miles Nasta, Oliver Tree (2019–2020), and Michael Keenan (2015–2018).  She dated Michael Keenan an American composer and producer from 2015 to 2018. Michael is well-known for his collaborations with artists including Phoebe Ryan, and Skizzy Mars. He most likely got to know Melanie at the writing session for Pacify Her. After that, they grew close and collaborated on other songs over the years. Around 2015–2016, they started dating; however, they broke up sometime in 2017. He still maintains a great friendship with Melanie.

In a 2016 interview, she disclosed that her partner, Michael Keenan, assisted with adorning her home with unsettling dolls and other old-fashioned toys. Together, they wrote the songs for her second album, K-12, which he produced, as well as her debut album Cry Baby, which was released in 2015.

At first, Oliver Tree and Melanie were friends for some time and interacted frequently on social media before getting together. They even shared pictures from their upcoming Alternative Press interview on September 30, 2019, and later admitted they were dating.  Melanie unfollowed Oliver on Instagram in July 2020, and they both deleted all of the images of the two of them from their Instagram feeds. Melanie said in an Instagram story that she and Oliver had split up on May 12th, 2021, but that they were still friendly. After an hour, Oliver reposted the article.

Oliver Tree, Martinez’s ex, published a song called Cowboy Tears in February 2022 as Martinez snuggled up with her photographer in Joshua Tree. This song was probably inspired by their breakup. The remaining tracks on the album are uplifting songs like Doormat and Villain.

She was also in a relationship with Miles Nasta. In addition to being Melanie’s ex-boyfriend and drummer, Miles Nasta is a songwriter and producer. Melanie and Miles are still close friends despite having broken up a while ago. He and Melanie used to run a business together called Milk Man.

Martinez, who was dating her band’s drummer, inspired her version of a love ballad, Training Wheels, for him. Another song on the same album, Soap, also features a partner. She claimed that at first, talking about her sentiments with him made her feel like she was tossing a toaster into his bathtub; as a result, she had to wash her mouth out with soap.
