Released on February 18, Netflix's Texas Chainsaw Massacre is serving the thrill and gore of the masked maniac Leatherface with its own twist.
Bringing back the maniac carnage saga, the film follows a group of young people who travel to Harlow, Texas, (not filmed in Texas) which turns out to be dangerously near to the location where Leatherface has been hiding since the events of the first film. Leatherface, on the other hand, isn't the only one who's been biding his time. The teaser also indicates that Sally Hardesty played by Olwen Fouéré, the lone survivor from the first film, is returning for the sequel, and this time she's ready to track down Leatherface.
This sequel attempts to tackle gentrification, school shootings, cancel culture, social media addiction, and Confederate flags using some of the most annoying characters ever to grace the silver screen. The reviews however are mixed! While Variety has ranked Netflix's Texas Chain Saw Massacre in 7th place out of all the franchises, some think that the movie could have been better and the rest are fine with what's being served.
