According to Dr. Kraftson, those who use the medicine should be closely monitored by a doctor because excessive lack of appetite can lead to malnutrition and disordered eating. He went on to say, 'We do not want to make people anorexic. The goal is not to get rid of all hunger.'

In a statement, an Eli Lilly official stated that "Mounjaro is only approved for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes as an adjunct with diet and exercise," and that "Lilly does not promote or encourage the off-label use of any of our medicines.' However, specialists warn that as drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic gain popularity for their weight loss effects, more diabetic people will be left scrambling.  He stated, 'We’re going to probably watch this movie again.'
