Garry Ringrose (born January 26, 1995) is an Irish rugby union player who plays for Leinster and the Ireland national team. He usually plays in the center. Ringrose made his debut for Ireland under-20s against Scotland in the 2014 Six Nations Under 20s Championship, but he was dropped and did not play again after his side’s second game against Wales. Similarly, Ringrose was named to the bench for Ireland’s historic win over the All Blacks in Chicago in November 2016, but he did not play. However, a week later, he earned his first Ireland cap by starting the 52-21 victory over Canada at the Aviva Stadium. He scored his first international try in Ireland’s 27-24 victory over Australia in the final game of the 2016 Autumn Internationals series.
Later, he was named to the Ireland squad for the 2017 Six Nations Championship and scored a try in the second round against Italy, which was set up by Paddy Jackson. In the first and second tests played in the summer of 2017, he scored his third and fourth tries against Japan.

When Garry Ringrose plays for Ireland, he has the support of the entire country behind him, but it is the support of his girlfriend, Ellen, that means the most to him. The Leinster center previously told the Irish Independent that he considers himself incredibly lucky to have Ellen cheering him on. He stated,
She is the best and she is incredibly supportive and her, along with my parents and brothers and sisters, in the not-so-good times when you might lose a game, they are ones picking you up. I am incredibly lucky to have her in my corner in the not-so-great times. It’s even better having them on the great days because they have been through it all on that same journey with you. Thankfully I have her with me, she is a huge support.
Garry’s girlfriend, Ellen, is pursuing a master’s degree in dietetics at UCD, where he is also studying Business and Law. While rugby is his passion, he admits that having another string to his bow is a plus.
Ireland attack coach Mike Catt has provided an injury update on Garry Ringrose!
Ireland attack coach Mike Catt has provided an injury update on Garry Ringrose, who was carted off on a stretcher last weekend at Murrayfield. In the second half of Ireland’s victory over Scotland, Ringrose took a nasty hit to the head from an opponent’s hip while attempting a wrap tackle.
The Leinster star was treated on the field for some time and was given oxygen before being removed from the game. Ringrose thankfully gave a thumbs-up as he was carted off the field of play, though it was clear he would not play in Saturday’s potential Grand Slam decider. And Catt has revealed that Ringrose is doing ‘fine,’ providing insight into the 28-year-well-being old’s following the game.
Henshaw replaces Ringrose in the starting lineup for the match against England, while Ryan Baird replaces the injured Iain Henderson. Bundee Aki has been retained at inside center, while Stuart McCloskey has been left out of the matchday squad entirely.
