The character Coop is played by actor Khobe Clarke (@khobeclarke). When the students are performing Romeo and Juliet in their English class during the 1970s episode of Firefly Lane season 2, part 2, Kate catches Coop's attention. Coop is a typical, well-liked high school athlete. She is shocked when he seems to be more interested in her than her closest friend, Tully (Ali Skovbye), even though he is one of the coolest men in school and has a lot of friends.
As the season comes to a close, she decides to put her career before romance by helping Lisa-Karen close the restaurant one evening. Coop and Kate are talking about going out, but Lisa-Karen overhears their chat, and she informs him she's going to stay and work instead. When Lisa-Karen overhears this, she interjects, advising the woman to go on the date and not worry about work.
