McGuinness will portray Josie McConnell, a strong, no-nonsense woman who lives in poverty at the tail of the train. Josie cares for her sick husband as well as their precocious son. She would do anything for her family, and when unforeseen circumstances turn their lives upside down, she’ll learn exactly how far she’ll go.

The TNT series is based on the 2013 Bong Joon-Ho-directed South Korean-Czech movie with the same title. In fact, the film was adapted from Le Transperceneige (1982), a French novel from Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The plot revolves around the remaining humanity seven years into the future when the earth has turned into a frozen wasteland. A giant, perpetually moving train known as 'Snowpiercer' circles the globe carrying the surviving passengers.

The other notable cast includes Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Alison Wright, Susan Park, Lena Hall, Sheila Vand, Sam Otto, Iddo Goldberg, Jaylin Fletcher, Rowan Blanchard, Steven Ogg, and Sean Bean (season 2).

Katie McGuinness made her acting debut with the mini-series He Knew He Was Right (2004), where she played the role of Jenny. The same year she starred as Alison in the TV movie Dirty Filthy Love (2004).

A year later, the actress featured as Becky Hamilton in M.I.T.: Murder Investigation Team (2005) in the second episode of season 2. In 2007, Katie played the role of Beatrice in an Indian English language romantic thriller, Bombil and Beatrice.
