Why Is Marcus Depressed in Ginny and Georgia? Why Did He Break up With Ginny?

In Ginny & Georgia, Marcus has always been depressed after the death of his best buddy the year before Ginny arrived in town. Being back in season 2, Marcus again battles the depression. Ginny, he believes, is the one person who genuinely understands him and makes him happy. However, he recognizes that this is an issue and gets depressed, so he breaks up with Ginny.

Ginny & Georgia on Netflix is an intriguing mix of mystery, teen drama, and wholesomeness as if series creator Sarah Lampert and her team blended aspects from Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives. Season 1 begins with Virginia Ginny (Antonia Gentry), Georgia (Brianne Howey), and Austin (Diesel La Torraca) relocating to the fictional town of Wellsburg, Massachusetts, in search of a fresh start.

Georgia appears to have achieved everything she has ever wanted after being engaged to Wellsbury Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), but her son and daughter are now living with Ginny's father Zion (Nathan Mitchell) in Boston when season 2 begins. This changes as the season progresses and both of her children return home. Ginny, who has always felt like an outcast, is dealing with a racist instructor, an uneducated peer group that shrugs off or brazenly ignores her mistreatment, and a mother she believes doesn't understand her and frequently overshadows her.

Wellsburg is her new beginning, but secrets from Georgia's haunted past come back to attack both of them and endanger their new existence, especially with private investigator Gabriel Cordova (Alex Mallari Jr.) determined to make Georgia pay for her crimes. Ginny & Georgia Season 2 begins just where Season 1 ends. Georgia has proposed to Mayor Paul, but Ginny and Austin have fled and are now living with Zion. Max refuses to speak with Ginny after discovering her relationship with Marcus.

Marcus is his typical moody self at the start of Season 2. When Harry and Ginny eventually meet in episode 4, they appear to be happier than ever. They even come up with nicknames for one another. When Marcus returns home after visiting his grandparents in Vermont, things take a turn for the worst. So, what happened to him? Why is he depressed? Let us find out!

In Ginny & Georgia, Marcus Has Always Been Depressed After the Death of His Best Buddy; Learn the Reason Behind Breaking up With Ginny!

Ginny's love interest Marcus, played by Felix Mallard, will be dealing with depression in season 2 of Netflix's hit series Ginny & Georgia. Marcus is the ideal partner, supporting Ginny (Antonia Gentry) (@_antoniagentry_) through a difficult time with her mother. Ginny reaches out to him as he receives assistance from his mother Ellen (Jennifer Robertson), father Clint (Chris Kenopic), and twin sister Maxine (Sara Waisglass), who said she will be there for him.

Marcus describes how it feels to be depressed and how dark it may get during an episode. This is later confirmed when Max informs Ginny that Marcus has periods of depression. She even implies that his parents will restart his depression medicine.

As per, Variety, the most recent episodes also have a unique storyline: 16-year-old Marcus (Felix Mallard) shuts away his friends and family due to depression but eventually accepts therapy and medicine. He briefly revealed his depression during Season 1 when discussing the death of his best buddy. Mallard spoke about Marcus' sadness, which was portrayed in Episode 8, which he narrated. He discusses filming Marcus and Ginny's dramatic breakup sequence, what their relationship might be like in the future and his reconciliation with Hunter. Mallard said;

I think it's vital to teach young males that it's normal to struggle. Hopefully, it is portrayed truthfully, and you can see it and feel validated. And to portray that experience honestly on TV. It's a difficult task.

Marcus has already revealed the dark place he went to after the death of his best buddy the year before Ginny arrived in town; nonetheless, viewers will see him battle with being back in the chamber where depression lives this season. Marcus had never been in love before meeting Ginny. Ginny, he believes, is the one person who genuinely understands him and makes him happy.

However, he recognizes that this is an issue. He assures Max that no one individual is to blame for his pleasure. So he decides to sever things with Ginny to stop hurting her and holding her back. Although it was heartbreaking to watch Ginny and Marcus break up, it was the best thing for their relationship at the time. He isn't in the appropriate frame of mind to be with anyone. Before resuming a relationship, he needs to concentrate on himself and discover inner contentment.
