Willow Shields is a rising American actress making rounds with the new Netflix series Spinning Out (2020). She was born on 1st June 2000 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to parents Rob Shields (father), an art teacher, and Carrie Shields (mother). Both of her siblings are actors. She’s got a fraternal twin sister, Autumn Shields, and an older brother named River Shields.

Shields is fond of pets and owns dogs and chickens at her home. She received her education through homeschool. Her hobbies include making art and artist trading cards. Also, she’s passionate about history and reading.

The Netflix series follows the character of Kat Baker, who intends to give up skating after a disastrous fall eliminates her off the competition. She then grabs the opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner from a wealthy family named Justin Davis. However, she risks exposing her secret that could change her entire life.

The new partners face numerous physical, mental, and psychological obstacles on and off the ice to fulfill their Olympic dreams. Spinning Out premiered on Netflix on 1st January 2020.

Willow Shields’ first acting credit was the voice role of Girl Watching Gun Fight in a short film Las Vegas New Mexico (2008). A year later, she featured for a single episode as Lisa Rogan / Lisa Royal in a crime drama series In Plain Sight (2009).

In 2011, the actress starred as Grace in the TV film Beyond the Blackboard. This was followed by her breakthrough role of Primrose Everdeen in a dystopian science-fiction adventure film The Hunger Games (2012). She reprised her role in the subsequent sequels The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), The Hunger Games Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015).

In between her Hunger Games adventure, the actress made a small screen appearance as Eve on R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour (2012) in an episode titled Intruders. In 2017, Willow starred as Rachel in the fantasy adventure film Into the Rainbow. A year later, she played the role of Grace in A Fall from Grace (2018).

In 2019, Shields starred as Lorian in Woodstock or Bust (2019), for which she won Best Actress in Artemis Women in Action Film Festival. In addition, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Feature Film in Lady Filmmakers Film Festival.

Besides her acting credits, Shields featured in a reality show Dancing with the Stars season 20 alongside her dancing partner Mark Ballas. She became the youngest competitor in the show’s history aged 14, overtaking Zendaya, who was 16 when she competed in the season 16 edition.

Despite high scores from judges throughout the competition, Willow and Mark shockingly got eliminated from DWTS in week seven, finishing in 7th place.
