He is the second of three kids of his parents and the family of five lived in California, where the actor also attended high school. The lovebirds started going out and the high school romance that started almost a decade ago has had its ups and downs but still they are together. In 2015 Chance was 17 and his girlfriend, Emma Smith, was 16 when they became parents. Being teenagers the relationship suffered a little but they stayed together for the sake of their daughter. Emma went to school six weeks after giving birth. But the strain on their relationship was too much, which is why Chance and Emma separated.

The separation was contentious as the actor revealed on BoyBand in 2017, "There was troubles, you know, in our relationship with my daughter's mom. I was thinking my heart - I didn't know what to do differently, because you know, we were young. When we split I didn't really let myself feel anything, and... I just kind of accepted that it happened, and it took me two months to even try to do anything about it. And by that time it was too late. You know, I just kind of blocked that out."

While Brooklyn Louise Smith, their daughter born on 10 July 2015, had both her mom and dad in her life. Her time was divided between her two parents' families. The couple wanted to give their child as normal a life as possible, even though this were far from normal.
