It is almost a given at this point that we will get at least one original movie a month from Netflix. Whether the film is an English production or one with a foreign language, we do get to enjoy some wonky film every month. Netflix released details about the movie in August of 2020 when the first trailer made its way to YouTube. Their placeholder page on Netflix shows a large cast working in the film, all of which are working actors in Germany. Along with the synopsis and trailer for the movie, the list of the cast was also unveiled.
Freaks: You're One of Us cast is led by Cornelia Groschel, who plays Wendy in the movie. Cornelia is a polished German actress who has been in the industry for more than two decades now. She portrays Wendy, a diner cook who realizes she has powers, and there are people looking for her, bad people, as well as others like her. Wendy is extremely powerful, and she is just trying to do the best she can for her son and family.

Tim Oliver Schultz plays Elektro Man in Freaks: You're One of Us. Elektro Man is the funny one of the bunch, someone who considers himself to be a superhero. He forms a team with Wendy to stay away from the villainous people looking for them. Elektro Man is also the comic relief of the movie, providing levity and counterbalance to the heavy life of Wendy.
Wotan Wilke Möhring plays a homeless man or a tramp who comes in contact with Wendy and tells her she has powers, and they are the same. Wotan's character does not feel pain, and he is also the one who tells Wendy about people hunting them and trying to conduct experiments on them to get to the root of their power.
The three of them lead Freaks: You're One of Us cast while Nina Kunzendorf, Frederic Linkemann, Finnlay Berger, Gisa Flake, Ralph Herforth, and Thelma Buabeng appearing in various roles as supporting cast in the film.

Netflix released the synopsis for Freaks: You're One of Us, and it reads, "Tipped by a mysterious tramp, a meek fry cook discovers she has superpowers — and kindred spirits — and uncovers an unsavory, widespread conspiracy."
The new Netflix film follows Wendy, who is trying to make ends meet and works as a fry cook at a diner. She comes in contact with a homeless man who tells her about her powers and others like her. As the film progresses, Wendy meets others like her and also people trying to take her power.
Freaks: You're One of Us is written by Marc O. Seng, who is known for writing seven episodes of the hit mind-bending Netflix series Dark. Marc is famous for his work on the show, and he is continuing his winning streak with Freaks. The forces involved in the making of the film does provide a vote of confidence in the movie.

Netflix is releasing the German film on 2 September 2020. The announcement of the release date was coupled with the release of the first trailer for the film. Freaks: You're One of Us trailer was released on 12 August 2020 and has close to a million views on YouTube.
The trailer gives the looks and feels of the Netflix movie with the cast showing off their characters and their amazing powers, but for more, you will have to wait till 2 September 2020.
