Zoe Kravitz was born on 1st December 1988 in Venice, Los Angeles, California, to half African American and half Jewish parents, Lenny Kravitz (musician father) and Lisa Bonet (actress mother). Her father dedicated the song Flowers for Zoe from his second album Mama Said, to his then-2-year-old daughter Zoe.

Kravitz’s parents were married for six years from 1987 to 1993. The couple divorced when Kravitz was just five years old. She subsequently lived with her mother in Topanga, Canyon, for six years, followed by a move to Miami, where she resided with her father and spent summers with her mother.
