As mentioned above, Juliet Gordy is the daughter of her father Kerry Gordy and mother, Karen Longley Gordy. She is also the granddaughter of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy which means she is royalty when it comes to the African-American music of the 20th Century.
Kerry Gordy also worked with Motown, and he married his wife Karen Longley Gordy soon after. The couple welcomed their first and only child, Juliet Gordy, in November of 2000. From the time Juliet was born, she grew up in privilege and also got everything she wanted.

Juliet lived in Los Angeles in the 2010s as she was enrolled in Marlborough School, an all-girls school. In the school, the actress grew fond of track and field, and though she was not able to make a huge mark for the school in sports, Juliet did learn to keep fit and train hard from the program.
Soon after Juliet finished school, she was taken by her willingness to become an actress, and as soon as she returned from her Le Bal Debutante ball, the actress started on making herself an actress.

Le Bal Debutante ball is an exclusive invited only French ball held every year with the tickets distributed to selected guests with no purchasing allowed. Juliet Gordy was invited to the ball along with her parents who accompanied her and Juliet’s friend True Whitaker, the daughter of Forest Whitaker was also invited.
Juliet only recently turned 18 before she walked down the stairs, and when asked about the experience of being at the ball, Juliet said, “Paris is like a second home to me. I was baptized here and stayed here all the time as a child with my mom’s best friend, who is French—so doing the Bal feels like the perfect way to start my adult life of visiting Paris.”

Leah is a character whose ceiling is Yale University, and her floor is UCLA, it alone tells you how talented she is. Her mother is doing her best to make sure she gets into the best school so she can be provided with better opportunities in life, away from the struggles of the bad part of the town.
The character of Leah is also the compassionate one when it comes to her brother Dante Mendoza, played by Jahmil French. Dante just got out of prison, and his family is on edge about him, but Leah is the one who makes him feel at home. The relationship between the two characters in the show isn’t even something the two actors faked; they really care for one another, and Juliet considers Jahmil her brother in real life also.
