Tisha Campbell was born on 13th October 1968 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents Clifton Campbell (father) and Mona Campbell (mother), who encouraged her love for music. As for her siblings, Tisha’s got four brothers and a younger sister named Tiara Campbell.

Raised in Newark, New Jersey, Tisha went to Newark Arts High School prior to attending Washington Academy of Music in East Orange, New Jersey. She’s appeared in several music videos of Will Smith.

Prior to the recast, the character was portrayed by American actress Erika Alexander for six seasons whilst Last Man Standing aired on ABC.

Tisha Campbell is married to actor husband Duane Martin for over two decades. The wedding was held on 17th August 1996. The couple shares two kids, both sons. The eldest is named Xen Martin, born on 8th August 2001, while the youngest son is Ezekiel Martin, born on 8th September 2009.

The actress filed for divorce from Duane Martin after 22 years of married life, in February 2018. The source said at the time:

I know that it’s been coming. It’s not anything that’s new. It’s been getting harder and harder for them for the last two years. But it just got to the breaking point recently. It’s one of those things where they’ve been talking about it and fighting it out and trying to come to a conscious uncoupling.

The couple had their fair share of challenges, not least Xen’s diagnosis of autism at the age of 18 months. Tisha told People:

Amidst their bitter divorce, Tisha filed a restraining order against her estranged husband in January 2019, citing physical abuse. In addition, Campbell accused Duane of misappropriating and hiding money from her.

In February 2019, Tisha and Duane reached a temporary custody deal, agreeing to joint custody of their kids. A few months later, Tisha’s estranged spouse claimed his wife is mentally stable while her friends denied this accusation.

Campbell’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Martin Lawrence

In January 1997, Tisha Campbell filed a lawsuit against her Martin co-star Martin Lawrence alleging he tormented and sexually harassed her on the set of their Fox TV sitcom. In addition, the suit, filed in District Court in Los Angeles, alleged emotional distress, misrepresentation and sexual battery.

A few months earlier, in November 1996, the actress had decided to leave the series during the final season, citing “intolerable” working conditions. However, by April 1997, Tisha settled the sex harassment lawsuit against Lawrence and appeared for the final two episodes on the show.
