Rudy Pankow was supposed to go to culinary school after he was done with high school, but two months before his graduation, he decided, moving to LA was what he wanted to do. Rudy said he wanted to “live a story” from a young age, and right before he was set to go off to college, he decided LA and a career in acting was something, which would fulfill him and also help find who he is.
The actor was born in the late 90s to his parents, and he is one of three kids of his mother, Penny Pankow. Rudy Pankow was born and raised in Alaska alongside his brothers; he also went to school there. Rudy finished high school from Ketchikan High School, located in Ketchikan, Alaska, where he also ran track and played soccer for the Kayhi.

Rudy Pankow moved to Los Angeles after he graduated at the age of 18, and though it was not a well thought out decision at the moment, the actor soon found his footing. Rudy said he was attracted to the character of JJ, and growing up in a small town in Alaska helped him play the character better. During the filming of the series, the main cast of the show stayed four doors down from one another. Rudy and Chase even bunked together to form a better bond and make their best friends relationship more believable.

Rudy Pankow was a good student in high school, he was involved in sports, and without good grades, you are not allowed to play sports. Rudy played soccer for the Kayhi wearing the number nine jersey; he was also a track athlete, taking part in the 5,000-meter race. The actor was good in high school, and he was supposed to be headed to college after being done with high school.
According to Rudy, he was expected to go to culinary school, but two months before graduation, he made his mind up about going to Los Angeles and pursuing a career in acting. Rudy said if he had asked his parents or his friends about his decision, they would’ve said there is a small probability of him making it in Hollywood, which is why Rudy decided to go without telling anyone.

The decision to move to LA and pursue a career, which Rudy thought would bring him happiness was his own. So he did not want to know what anyone thought or the statistics of the people who make it in the city of dreams. “Screw what everybody else thinks of me, I'm going to go try to find myself and figure out what I want to do,” Rudy said about his choice of skipping culinary school for acting.

By the summer of 2016, Rudy Pankow was in Los Angeles; he said the gravity of the situation only hit him before he went to a showing of Star Trek: Beyond with his brother. Rudy said the severity of the situation only set in before the movie; everything he left behind was gone, and the only thing left was his desire to be an actor.
Work was hard to come by at the start, and Rudy was limited to short movies at the start. Then he was the lead guy in the music video for the rock band Muse. Rudy got his first acting role in a major production in 2019 when he appeared in the Netflix series The Politician. He was also hired to appear in the TV series Solve.
2019 was a big year for the actor; he was hired as one of the leading cast members of the Netflix series Outer Banks. Out of seven or eight roles he read for, Rudy won the role of JJ, and the actor said out of all the scripts he mostly related with Rudy, and it probably played a hand in his casting in the show. Next, the actor will be seen in his first movie Spacey Waves which is currently in post-production.
