Outer Banks is the newest addition to the never-ending cycle of original series produced by the streaming giant Netflix. The constant stream of original series may not get renewed for a second season, but during these moments when the whole world is cooped up inside new shows and movies are always welcome to cure the boredom.
According to the people involved in the making of the series, Outer Banks is akin to The Goonies, but the kids are grown up, and there is a little more drama than the classic movie. Outer Banks is created by the Pate brothers, along with novelist Shannon Burke about some friends who are just looking to have some fun during the summer.

The new Netflix series is about a group of friends living in a place called Outer Banks. Life is not exactly fun in Outer Banks, but the members of the Pogues try to make it by while also dealing with another group of rich teenagers known as The Kooks. But this summer won’t be anything like before, and the South Carolina surrounding of the Pogues will play a hand in revealing who they are what will be revealed to them.

Outer Banks is a real town, it is located in North Carolina, but the funny thing about the Outer Banks filming location is the show as not filmed in the town where it got its name. Some political and other factors played a hand in the creators of the show deciding not to film there, and instead, they opted for South Carolina and mainly Charleston.

The show was supposed to be filmed in North Carolina; both the Pate brothers are from the state, but there were some problems with the filming, which is what it was moved to the Southern neighbors of the state. Most of the islands and tourist destinations of the state were utilized in the filming of the series.

Outer Banks filming location in North Carolina not only helped get the look and feel of the series, but it also allowed some to gain employment during the duration of filming. According to the creators of the show, they utilized over 200 businesses in the state, which means it was profitable for Charleston to allow the series to be filmed there.

South Carolina Lowcountry is heavily featured in the 10 episode series, with most of the filming taking place in and around the place. Beaches were also utilized for some party shots, and lighthouses are also included to form whole Outer Banks scenery in the series.

A happy cast and crew mean smooth working conditions and a better product on screen, and it seems the creators of Outer Banks stumbled onto the perfect cast for the series. All of the leading five cast members were raised in and around coastal places, which allowed the actors a sense of familiarity.
Chase Stokes plays the leader of the Pogues, John B, in the series, and the actor was born in Maryland but raised in Florida where he grew up surfing, and he already had a boating license before even joining the series. It was not hard for the actor to get acclimated to a show which depended on rivers shots and boating scenes.
Chase Stokes and Madison Bailey enjoyed the South Carolina sun during the Outer Banks filming.

Madelyn Cline plays Sarah Cameron, one of the Kooks, who is attracted to John in the series, and the actress is a Carolina native. She was born and raised in Charleston and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting after finishing high school. Outer Banks filming location brought back happy memories for the actress, and she said she fell in love with her hometown all over again because of the show. Sarah does not get along with Rose Cameron, played by Caroline Arapoglou, her step-mother in the series.
Kiara is played by Madison Bailey in the series she is also a southern native, someone who was born and raised in North Carolina. It did not take long for the actress to get into her element and make friends with her other cast members, which she described, did not take long.
Rudy Pankow is from Alaska but he found similarities between his hometown and Outer Banks filming location.

John’s best friend in the series JJ is played by Rudy Pankow, who is the only one in the cast who grew up in a cold environment. Rudy is from Alaska, but the idea behind Outer Banks of how they relied on fishing and hospitality was something common with the place he grew up in. Rudy’s hometown was not as hot as Carolina, but the idea behind the town was something, which put the actor at ease with the Outer Banks filming location.
Last but not least, the level headed member of the crew, Pope, played by Jonathan Daviss, was also comfortable with the Outer Banks filming location. Hailing from Texas, the temperature was not the problem, and being among friends was something which allowed the actor to form chemistry with his castmates.

The Outer Banks cast members said, filming in Charleston was like a nice summer vacation, and considering the friendship between the cast of the series, they do seem to have enjoyed their time filming the series. Outer Banks will be available on 15 April 2020, worldwide, only on Netflix.
