Lexa Doig (birth name Alexandra Lecciones Doig) was born on 8th June 1973 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to parents Gloria B. Lecciones (mother), a registered nurse from the Philippines, and David W. Doig (father), a Canadian engineer. She’s got an older brother named Ted Doig.

Lexa studied rhythmic gymnastics as a kid, and when she was nine years old, she grew a keen interest in acting. She received an inspiration to become an actor after watching a theatre production of George Gershwin’s opera Porgy Bess. Later in her teenage years, the actress studied American Sign Language.

Lexa dropped out of high school and began doing modeling and commercial works. Also, she hosted YTV’s Video & Arcade Top 10 (1991) with Canadian actor friend Gordon Michael Woolvett.

The actress is fond of reading, roller-blading, and playing RPG video games, in particular, “Dungeons and Dragons,” which happens to be her favorite.

Lexa Dog is playing the role of Paige Lassiter / Michelle Logan in the Netflix romance web series Virgin River (2019). She is the owner of a bakery truck named ‘Paige’s Bakeaway.’

Virgin River, based on novels by Robyn Carr, follows the character of Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), who shifts to the remote location of Virgin River in California, upon answering an ad to work as a nurse practitioner.

Mel believes this is the perfect place to start fresh, leaving her distressing memories behind. However, she soon realizes moving on isn’t quite easy as it seems, so she must heal herself before she can genuinely embrace Virgin River as her home.

Lexa Doig tied the knot with her husband, Michael Shanks, on 2nd August 2003, following a delightful wedding ceremony. The duo shares two children, a son & a daughter. Their first child, a daughter named Mia Tabitha Shanks was born on 13th September 2004. Two years later, the lovebirds welcomed a son named Samuel David Shanks on 19th March 2006. In addition, the pair shares a daughter named Tatiana Shanks from Michael’s previous relationship.

The couple first met on the set of Andromeda (2000). They stumbled upon each other when Michael got cast to make a guest appearance in season 1, episode 20, titled Star-Crossed. The husband-wife duo shared the screen once again in the same series in the 2003 episode called Day of Judgment, Day of Wrath.

Lexa Doig made her acting debut as a 19-year-old in the TV series Tekwar (1994), where she portrayed the role of Cowgirl, alongside William Shatner and Greg Evigan. This was followed by her roles in several big and small screen projects. The most notable ones include her debut movie Jungleground (1995), playing the role of Spider, British Television action crime drama CI5: The New Professionals (1998) as Tina Backus, and a thriller-drama movie No Alibi (2000) as Camille.
